South Jubilee Workshop
The goal of this project was to create a small workshop on the property that fit with the character of the existing turn of the century house. This was achieved by using a combination of off the shelf trim profiles and custom brackets to match the craftsman details. The result is an attractive and functional building for a very reasonable cost.
Oaklands Secondary Suite
This project involved a house lift and complete demolition of the lower level to make way for a super energy-efficient secondary suite. Features include:
Brentwood Bay Remodel
This property was updated from its original 1970's look to a more contemporary, open concept home. The interior got a new layout, new drywall throughout, new kitchen and bathrooms, and many other upgrades. The exterior was treated to new wood windows and doors, a new roof line with fir fascia and soffit, and a large partly covered deck overlooking a beautiful anchorage.
Stoltz Bluff Eco-Retreat
This owner-designed and built vacation rental is beautifully situated on a high bluff in the middle of the Cowichan Valley. Thick cob walls support a shed roof designed to support soil and vegetation for a future green roof. This project re-purposed a walk in closet to make a lovely en suite bathroom. The finishes were chosen to reflect the style of the well preserved turn of the century craftsman home while incorporating modern luxuries. A large, well appointed wardrobe was added in the bedroom to make up for lost storage space.
